Wabash Colleges seeks an enthusiastic and energetic Content Producer and Social Media Specialist who will enhance campus communications across a broad range of subjects, while working with a fast-paced team of writers, editors, photographers, cinematographers, and designers. The ideal candidate will have one to three years of experience in content production and social media management. The successful candidate will skillfully collaborate with colleagues to create and drive stories across multiple social media platforms and be comfortable learning about and navigating changing social media trends. The Content Producer and Social Media Specialist will combine creativity and technological savvy in creating and distributing online and other interactive content.

Position Description:

The Content Producer and Social Media Specialist is a full-time, 12-month, on-campus position with full benefits within the Communications and Marketing Office. This person reports to Director of Marketing and Media Relations and works collaboratively with other members of the office, as well as the offices of Advancement, Enrollment Management, and Athletics in support of student recruitment, campus community engagement, and alumni connectivity.

The ideal candidate will have a bachelor’s degree and one to three years of experience in content production and social media strategy and execution. Other essential skills include photography and video asset gathering, editing, writing, familiarity with interviewing subjects, and marketing through social media. The successful candidate will:

Create and publish content on all general Wabash social media platforms, including but not limited to Facebook, Instagram, LinkedIn, Tik Tok, X, and YouTube.

  • Monitor social media metrics, respond to comments as appropriate, and maintain the social media content calendar.
  • In collaboration with other staff members, drive visual communication through photography and video gathering efforts at campus events.
  • Incorporate multimedia text, graphics, sound, animation, and video to enhance user interest and engagement.
  • Actively participate in weekly content meetings and collaborate with other content generators to maximize the impact of all written and multimedia assets across all platforms — print, web, social, video, podcasts, and media pitches.
  • Keep abreast of timely, relevant trends in effective uses of social media in higher education.
  • Other duties as assigned to assist and support the department.
  • This is an on-campus position that includes assigned work on some nights and weekends.

 

 

 

Desired Qualifications:

  • Enthusiasm for working on a creative team on a high-energy campus.
  • Evidence of creative and strategic storytelling.
  • Experience in communications, journalism, digital marketing, or social media.
  • Ability to capture print quality photos and/or video and gather other visuals to enhance storytelling effect.
  • Experience with social media research, analyses, planning, content production, and execution.
  • Effective editing skills including conducting research, selecting and organizing materials, managing multiple projects simultaneously, and problem-solving skills.
  • Familiarity with graphic design, page layout, and multimedia software.
  • Ability to meet deadlines while balancing multiple projects.
  • Experience in adapting to new information when it becomes available or priorities shift.
