In this course, we'll examine conflicts and compromises from across the 168体育平台下载_足球即时比分-注册|官网stern Hemisphere to understand the messy process of conquest. 168体育平台下载_足球即时比分-注册|官网'll look at how different Indigenous and European societies comprehended and pursued conquest and how they experienced its immediate effects. Along the way, we'll pay attention to the lives of "regular" people swept up in conquest and especially to the roles of intermediaries-the translators, officials, and missionaries who brokered truces and rendered enemies legible.
