Rhetoric - Lambda Pi Eta

LPH 2017 inductees (left to right): Kaz Koehring ’18, Walker Hedgepath ’19, Jack Kellerman ’18, Ben Johnson ’18, Michael Krutz ’18 (not pictured)

Lambda Pi Eta (LPH) is the official honor society of the National Communication Association, and has active chapters at colleges and universities worldwide.  The Wabash Chapter of Lambda Pi Eta was chartered in 2014.  Each year, students are invited to join Lambda Pi Eta in honor of their academic accomplishments in the Wabash Rhetoric Department.

The Greek letters of LPH honor what Aristotle described in The Rhetoric as the three components of persuasion: logos (Lambda), meaning logos; pathos (Pi), relating to emotion; and ethos (Eta), meaning character credibility and ethics.  Lambda Pi Eta recognizes, fosters, and rewards outstanding scholastic achievement while stimulating interest in the communication discipline.

Wabash students interested in the requirements for Lambda Pi Eta may talk to Professor Sara Drury, the chapter’s advisor.
